How It Works

The powered titanium anode creates a small protective current that stops corrosion —without ever depleting.

1

Powered Current

The TGR2-X1 draws a tiny 0.015 A current from a standard 110V outlet, outputting 12V DC to the titanium rod.

2

Protects the Tank

The current travels through the water to the steel tank wall, making the tank the cathode. The titanium anode becomes the source of protective ions instead of corroding.

3

Permanent Defense

Unlike magnesium or aluminum anodes that deplete every 3-5 years, the titanium rod never depletes. It protects your tank for its full life.

Easy 3-Step Installation

Simple enough to do yourself. Powerful enough to last forever.

Step 1: remove old sacrificial anode rod using 1-1/16 inch socket wrench

1. Remove

Fit the included 1-1/16" socket. Turn counter-clockwise. Pull out the old sacrificial anode rod.

Step 2: install aurauto 12-inch powered titanium anode rod with 1-3/16 inch socket

2. Plug In

Wrap threads with Teflon tape. Drop in the aurauto rod. Snug with the included 1-3/16" socket — do not over-tighten.

Step 3: connect 12V power adapter to outlet and confirm solid green LED

3. Connect

Plug the 12V adapter into any 110V outlet. Snap the ground clip to the tank. Confirm the green LED is solid.

DIY-friendly install, kill the smell fast

Hot water smelled like rotten eggs for months. Installed the TGR2-X1 in 8 minutes with my socket wrench —the video tutorial was clearer than the paper manual. Smell gone in under 18 hours. Way cheaper than the plumber's quote.

Worth every dollar at $99

Compared prices for two weeks. The market leader was $150+ and refused to ship to my zip. aurauto shipped free in 2 days, and I save $50+ per anode cycle. Honest packaging too —"Made in China" right on the box. No mystery.

The Bradford White warning saved me from a return

I almost bought this for my Bradford White without reading the label. The big warning card in the box made me check the manual —turns out Bradford White uses the hot water outlet, not the dedicated port. Good thing the team was upfront. Would still buy for my brother's Rheem next month.

Quiet, no hum, no smell

I was nervous about electronics near the water tank. The TGR2-X1 is genuinely silent —no hum, no glow, just a tiny LED on the adapter. After 6 weeks, the rotten egg smell is gone and my hot water is cleaner.

Install took 15 minutes for me

First rod took me a few extra minutes because the old aluminum anode was stuck. Once out, the aurauto went in clean. Knocked one star because I needed my own channel-lock pliers —but the install was still simple. Worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What most buyers ask before clicking "Add to Cart".

Does the TGR2-X1 fit my Bradford White water heater?

Most Bradford White tanks place the anode rod in the hot water outlet rather than a dedicated anode port. The TGR2-X1 is engineered for the dedicated anode port only and should not be installed in the hot water outlet. Please verify your water heater brand and anode port location before purchasing. See our Bradford White compatibility guide for details.

How long does a powered titanium anode rod last?

The TGR2-X1 is permanent. Unlike a sacrificial magnesium or aluminum anode that depletes every 3— years, the powered titanium anode uses a small DC current to protect the tank instead of corroding itself. Once installed, it protects your water heater for its full lifespan. The TGR2-X1 carries a 20-year limited warranty.

Do I need a plumber to install this?

No plumber is required for most residential water heaters. The TGR2-X1 installs in about 5 minutes using the included sockets (1-1/16″ for the old rod, 1-3/16″ for the aurauto rod). A QR code on every package links to a step-by-step video tutorial. The unit plugs into a standard 110V outlet and uses less than $3 of electricity per year.

What is the power consumption?

Input: 110V AC. Output: 12V DC at 0.015 A. Approximately $2 to $3 per year in US electricity, depending on local rates. Compared to the savings from reduced sediment buildup (which improves tank efficiency), net annual savings are typically $30 to $50.

Is the TGR2-X1 NSF certified?

Yes. The TGR2-X1 is tested and certified against NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 by the Water Quality Association. This standard confirms the product is lead-free and safe for potable water systems. The certification mark is engraved on every nameplate and printed on the packaging.

Where is aurauto manufactured?

The TGR2-X1 is made in China by Ningbo Shanhai Yunchuang Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. We disclose country of origin transparently on every package, nameplate, and product page. Made in China is a sourcing choice, not a quality compromise —every TGR2-X1 ships with NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 certification traceable through WQA's online product listing.

What is the return and warranty policy?

30-day no-questions-asked returns on unopened packages. 20-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. Free shipping on all US orders. Warranty registration takes 60 seconds at aurauto.net/resources/warranty-returns/.

What's in the box?

1x aurauto TGR2-X1 Powered Titanium Anode Rod; 1x UL-listed 12V power supply with 12 ft (3.6 m) cord; 2x installation sockets (1-1/16" and 1-3/16"); 1x Teflon tape; 1x nameplate service sticker; 1x Quick-Start Installation Guide (English, illustrated).

Can I install the TGR2-X1 in the hot water outlet instead of the dedicated port?

No. The TGR2-X1 is specifically engineered for the dedicated anode port. Installing it in the hot water outlet without proper fittings may compromise performance and is not covered under warranty. For Bradford White and similar tanks where the anode is in the hot water outlet, the TGR2-X1 should not be installed.

Does the TGR2-X1 eliminate rotten egg smell?

Yes, the TGR2-X1 typically eliminates sulfur or rotten egg smell within 24 hours of installation. The smell comes from sulfur-reducing bacteria that react with the magnesium in conventional anodes. The TGR2-X1 uses titanium and a small protective current, which neither feeds the bacteria nor corrodes —eliminating the chemical reaction that creates the smell.
